New Blog Entries

Posted: 6 Sept. 2008

Two new blog entries, the first an update of "Nobody Gives a Damn About the Constitution Anymore," discussing the travesties of justice outside the conventions. What happened outside the Democratic and Republican National Conventions was disgusting, but it certainly wasn't unexpected. This is an update of the warning I wrote in late 2004, when I saw what was coming. The second entry is a discussion of a long-overdue Democratic response to Republican attack politics.

Almost Complete

Posted: 22 Jul. 2008

The site is nearly complete. All that's left is a "Contact" page, and based on past experience, I may want to play around with a few Captcha programs before I post that one - Too many spambots get my address and even with good filtering, I end up spending too much time sorting.

New Blog/Book Review Posted

subscribe to the site feedSubscribe - I've begun using Nucleus engine, a better system for frequent blogging than iWeb, so you can expect more frequent entries to my blog - singular now, too difficult to maintain different blogs - than before. It's pretty slick, and can be reached easily from the menus or from http://blog.cbberg.info. I've also posted a new book review, The Symbolic Uses of Politics, by Murray Edelman, found at http://cbberg.info/books.html. More occasionally, as I get the time.

New Conjecture Entry Posted

subscribe to the site feedSubscribe - Just posted to *Conjecture,* my personal blog - an entry that delves into the darker side of my annoyance with fearmongering, rankings, ratings, and useless rubrics applied to everyday life that, for some reason, counts for *News* in some circles. I was just too irritated to ignore it. The post is, for those of you who don't like reading so much, fairly long, but you'll get used to my sanctimonious babble - you might even find it amusing or enlightening.

Site Updates

subscribe to the site feedSubscribe - Two book reviews have been posted, William Gamson's Talking Politics (1992) and Richard Davis's The Web of Politics (1999). Soon to come are Edelman's Symbolic Uses of Politics and Bimber and Davis's Campaigning Online (2005). Expect new books on the tab of about one per week. Also updated are the family site, with new videos (including downloads), photo galleries, and archives available. Expect a new update to the family site fairly soon, including holiday videos and a photo retrospective of 2007.

Book Reviews

subscribe to the site feedSubscribe - This is a new section. I've been reading dozens (literally) of academic books about politics, interface, digital media, rhetorics of the image and more, and I thought I'd post my favorites as I found them. Coming soon: Edelman's Symbolic Uses of Politics, DeLuca & Buell's Liars! Cheaters! Evildoers! Demonization and the End of Civil Debate, and William Gamson's Talking Politics.
