New Blog Entries

Posted: 6 Sept. 2008

Two new blog entries, the first an update of "Nobody Gives a Damn About the Constitution Anymore," discussing the travesties of justice outside the conventions. What happened outside the Democratic and Republican National Conventions was disgusting, but it certainly wasn't unexpected. This is an update of the warning I wrote in late 2004, when I saw what was coming. The second entry is a discussion of a long-overdue Democratic response to Republican attack politics.

Almost Complete

Posted: 22 Jul. 2008

The site is nearly complete. All that's left is a "Contact" page, and based on past experience, I may want to play around with a few Captcha programs before I post that one - Too many spambots get my address and even with good filtering, I end up spending too much time sorting.

Welcome

This site is the catch-all: even the news feed will aggregate those of my other sites. Most of the content actually hosted here is personal, but I link to my academic, design, family, and nonprofit work. I have too much to aggregate elsewhere to worry about constantly cross-linking websites, and because NC State retains the right to all of my work hosted on the NCSU server, I thought it prudent to bring my personal content here: here, I can do as I please. To subscribe to the site feed, drag the button to your favorite aggregator.

I maintain two professional spots, one academic and one design, and one nonprofit (see my links page for more). This is the place where, for better or worse, I'll be "all me." This is literal: all of my sites are linked; all of my feeds are aggregated (newest stuff on the left). Actually, I'll be that rarely seen version of "interpersonal me." There's "school Chris," "design Chris," "altruistic cultural theorist Chris," and then there's "interpersonal Chris." Anyone who tells you that they don't perform a certain identity at work and one at home is lying. That or unemployed.

I'm always busy, always working, and most of that work happens in a digital environment of some sort. In brief: I'm currently in the third year of my Ph.D. program in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media at NC State University [ Link ]. Academic Chris has a website with research, writing, and courses. Design Chris is still in development (at least web-wise), but he's good at what he does. He's poor too: hire him. My wife and I live in Raleigh, NC, with our daughter, Arabella, born in May 2006. Sometimes I even get to see them (joke, but only a little). Interpersonal Chris likes photography, music, reading, movies, politics, and ranting about all of the above. This is where I'll confine the online presence of those interests. And although I know you don't care, I also know that there are many who love to get a peek inside the lives and minds of strangers. So, while I realize that to truly know me based on this page (really, I think that only my poor wife, who deserves much better than me yet stays around all the same, really understands who I am).
